About Us
The OIP was established in 2004, and is a division
of the National Registry of Environmental
Professionals® (NREP)®, a legally recognized
international, nonprofit, nonmember certification
organization. The OIP is comprised of its own Board
of Governors, advisory boards of Infrastructure
Preparedness Specialists and Management, along with
committees of educators, industrial managers,
consultants, first-event responders, and
governmental officials.
The OIP's goal is to provide an informational
reservoir of highly skilled and trained
professionals capable of responding to specific
emergencies nationwide. These professionals must be
ready to react when people or events threaten the
life and safety of people, stability of business
operations, property, public safety, the
environment, and to fulfill governmental roles and
responsibilities as required in a methodical and
efficient manner. In order to accomplish this goal,
the OIP sponsors and promotes educational
activities, develops examinations, and
professionally certifies individuals according to
their knowledge and specialties.
The OIP established a strategy that closely
interfaces with the National Response Framework (NRF),
National Incident Management System (NIMS),
Department of Homeland Security National
Infrastructure Protection Plan (NIPP), OSHA
Emergency Response (1910.120 (q) and other related
directives), OSHA Disaster Site Worker Safety,
Department of Homeland Security Chemical Security
Assessment (CSAT), DHS Ag Terror and AI Response
Programs, PHMSA/Department of Transportation (HAZMAT
safety, security, and other related directives),
NFPA 1600, ISO 14001, the Emergency Management
Accreditation Program (EMAP), and other appropriate
directives and programs as they are promulgated or
modified.
